The top picture is San Fran's airport. I needed it to get a second
picture in for my requirements. The lower picture is of UB's North
Campus, which is very intelligently located on a swamp in Amherst, NY
and "The Spine" (which is where all the acedemic buildings are
clustered) is one helluva wind tunnel on a windy day. My hat off to
the stoned architects who designed this place.
Here are some interesting tidbits of info:
1) The Ellicot Dorm Complex which houses many hundreds of students,
is modeled after prisons so when us evil students riot, we won't burn
down the whole campus.
2)Like said before, the University of Buffalo was placed out in the
boonies by some rich MFs who screwed everybody. Instead of putting it
in Downtown Buffalo which needs 30,000 kids to patronize the bars, they
put it out in the land of the eternal mosquito swarm and in the land
of the many thousands of deer which are stupid enough to want to break
into Ellicot.
3)The whole North Campus was originally designed to be a 1 mile long
building with underground parking for 18,000 cars. Now that was the
first bad thing that was ever avoided here in Westen New York.
4)UB is curently constructing a new Math Building. This money (and
it is a LOT of $$) could, oh I don't know, be used to purchase clocks
so the students know how late they are or even buy new desks that
aren't safety hazards.
5)All of the parking lots (they account for 60% of the total space on
North Campus) allow wind to pick up speed so when it hits "The Spine"
it's like a wind tunnel with 100mph winds. Real fun getting to class.
6)The shuttle buses are deathtraps, plain and simple. It's a rare
day when a bus doesn't break down and it's just a matter of time
before some student fatalities occur. REAL fun.
When I think of new stuff, I'll put it down. E-mail me or leave a
message on my guest book if you have any gripes.
